Pianos 2013 Finale - Sing for Hope

I was lucky enough to make it to Lincoln Center this past Sunday for the Pianos Finale! I cheated this year. Instead of trying to go find all the pianos around the city...I waited for them to come to one place. Where better than Lincoln Center?

Below are some pictures of the many pianos that brought music across the city.

Every hour, on the 08, there was a mini concert. This event went on from 11am to 8pm. At 7:08 pm, all 88 pianos were played at the same time! The final piece that was played was Bach's prelude in C.

Now these pianos are being given new homes in schools, community centers and other places where they will be well needed.

Can't wait for this event to be back next year!

This is possbily my favorite.

But this one was a close one, too. People couidn't keep their hands off of it!

Here was a mini concert.

Another favorite.

Ever looked at the back?

I love how the kiddies are at the piano of Hope!

Sing for Hope - Find your pianos!!

Have you noticed a piano here and there? And, lately, just everywhere? Sing for Hope's yearly tradition of placing 88 (cute!) pianos all throughout the City was made possible by a sponsor, this year! Hopefully, this tradition can be maintained and continue on for generations to come.

During my last piano hunt, I've seen random strangers brought together by singing and playing one of these pianos and just enjoying every moment. It's a reminder of life...what we are capable of, how beautiful it really is and that no one is alone in this. Click here for the map and happy hunting!!

Blue Note Jazz Festival 2013

The sun is out, the birds are singing and barbeques are cookin'!! Well, at least they were this weekend and hopefully after this wet week ahead. Don't forget to to keep the music goin' either. The Blue Note Jazz Festival will be going on all throughout June!

There will be some free and some not-so-free but well worth your buck. Get out of your cubby and check it out!

Here's a blurb of some notables:

Buddy Guy. Need I say more?

When I was just a wee young professional at my first job, on my first work trip...I took full advantage of being in the Windy City. Searching for Chicago blues was my top priority.
Right after work, I strolled into Buddy Guy's Legends. And stayed for the rest of the night.

Buddy Guy will be playing @ B.B. King's on 6/26th and the 27th @ 8pm.

One of my other favorites (I say this with confetti and poms poms) will also be performing for this fest. The Hot Sardines!

These guys keep the 20s very much alive with their always impeccable sounds, energy and ensemble! You WILL have a great time with them. And if you don't, then there's something wrong with you. Juuust kidding...

They'll be playing at Lucille's on June 15th @ 8 pm. Free!

Hope to see you here and there!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

So I got an e-mail this past weekend that congratulated Catch This Note on its second birthday!! And then I sat back looking at that e-mail...remembering how much I've neglected this baby. Yes, it is in need of some TLC. So here's to a more vibrant and awesome year ahead! And I hope you will join us!
